Class of 2008 Fall Term Electives

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The fall 2007 term is the first term in which Class of 2008 Global MBAs have an opportunity to take advantage of the vast array of elective courses at Ross. The first 6 months of the program are devoted to the core through instruction in Japan, China, Korea and Ann Arbor. Now, with the start of the fall term, Global MBAs are experiencing the beginning of autumn in Ann Arbor, the beginning of the academic school year at the University of Michigan, and the beginning of integration into the regular academic schedule at Ross. Given the ability to customize their curriculum, Global MBAs take ownership of their education based on personal interests and professional goals. For the first time in the program, Global MBAs are presented with an expanded community and the freedom to choose from the full breadth of Ross elective courses which adds an entirely new perspective to their Ross experience.

Global MBAs at the Big House

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - On Saturday, September 22, the Class of 2008 joined more than 111,000 other football fans at Michigan Stadium as the EAMDC hosted them to an afternoon of Michigan Football. We are happy to report a victory for the Wolverines in this season’s Big Ten opener against Penn State. While the entire experience was new for most of the Global MBAs, everyone enjoyed a traditional UM pre-game tailgate party before joining the crowd at the stadium.

Freshman quarterback Ryan Mallett directed the Wolverine offense, completing 16-of-29 passes for 170 yards. Mallett also rushed for a touchdown. Senior tailback, Mike Hart, led the Wolverines with 153 rushing yards and a touchdown. The Wolverines earned a 14-9 win over Penn State which gives Michigan a record of nine consecutive wins against Penn State, dating back to the 1997 season.

Michigan Stadium, also known as the 'Big House', is the home of Michigan Football. As one of the country's most classic, widely recognized sport facilities, Michigan Stadium has come to symbolize the pride, tradition and excellence of the University of Michigan. There is truly no place like it on a Saturday afternoon in the fall.

  Alumni News

Ryoma Ishii from the Global MBA Class of 2006 recently updated us on happenings in his life since leaving Ann Arbor a little over a year ago. Ryoma has been busy: he started a new company, began teaching college courses, and wrote a book.

Ryoma recently launched SILVA Co., Ltd. which focuses on venture capital opportunities specifically for the fashion industry where he had worked for more than 13 years prior to joining Ross. Along with getting SILVA up and running, Ryoma has been teaching management to over 400 undergraduates at Nagoya University of Business and Commerce. In his spare time, he took advantage of his Global MBA experience to author a book he hopes will help future Japanese MBA students who decide to pursue a degree at a university where the curriculum is taught in English. The book title MBA English is a compilation of words every MBA needs to know and includes the definition in Japanese and CD’s demonstrating the English pronunciation of every word. If interested, you can find the book on Amazon. Even though Ryoma is doing so well back home, he says that he still misses Ann Arbor and the Ross community.

We appreciate the update from Ryoma and look forward to hearing about his future endeavors!
