Wayne Baker
Dr. Wayne E. Baker gives his perspective on America's "Culture War" in a talk hosted by the Kresge Business Library. Based on research from his recently published book, America's Crisis of Values: Reality and Perception, he noted that contrary to popular belief, America has not lost its traditional values. He explained how the nation compares favorably with most other societies and that the culture war is largely a myth.

Dennis Bakke
In his talk, Dennis Bakke, former CEO of international energy giant AES, spoke of the shared values critical to his company's success; integrity, social responsibility, fairness and fun. To Bakke, fun is not the Friday afternoon beer blast or the annual holiday party. Rather, fun means a joy-filled, rewarding, creative work environment, free of autocratic supervisors and staff offices, where each and every employee can fully utilize his or her talents for success.

Each semester, Evening MBA students are entrusted with the task of conveying
to both prospective and newly admitted students the talent, spirit, and
tremendous opportunities available within the Ross School of Business community.
Evening MBA Ambassadors serve an essential role as an information source by
leveraging their familiarity of the MBA program, as well as their personal
experience balancing work, school, and social life during the program.
Ambassadors participate in Evening MBA Information Sessions for prospective
students and attend Evening MBA Orientation for admitted students. These events
are held in the summer, fall, and winter every year. In addition to school
sponsored events, the list of Ambassadors is distributed to prospective and new
students, allowing interested individuals to contact them with further
questions.
The Ambassador contact list is available by clicking here
The mission of the Evening MBA Ambassador Program is to ensure that prospective
and newly admitted Evening MBA students feel welcome at the Ross School of
Business, while supplying them with the necessary information to allow them to
make the right decisions for their own academic, career, and personal goals.
Ambassadors are also encouraged to offer suggestions for creating an even better
experience for prospective and admitted students.
If you are interested in becoming an Evening MBA Ambassador, or if you have
questions, please contact the Evening MBA Association by emailing
evemba-info@umich.edu.
Credit Increases
For credit increases, please send an e-mail to Academic Services at
rossacadservices@umich.edu.
Please include your full name, 8-digit student I.D. number and the specific
term.
Mail Folders
Students and Professors use mail folders to exchange documents. At Commerce
Park, a supply of blank (Pendaflex) folders and tabs are located on top of the
black file cabinet in the student lounge. The Ann Arbor file cabinets are
located in the Executive residence lower level. At the entrance that leads to
E0530, E0540 and E0550 classrooms, the file cabinets for the Evening MBAs are
located on the right hand side. All newly-admitted students should have a folder
prepared. If you do not have a folder, please create one for yourself either in
Ann Arbor or Commerce Park (or both, as needed). In Ann Arbor (inside the top
cabinets), there is a supply of forms, Pendaflex folders and tabs for Evening
Students use when the Academic Services Office in E2540 is closed. The Evening
MBA Program Office in E2612 also has a supply of forms.
Inclement Weather Procedures
In the event of inclement weather, the Dean's Office will decide after 3 p.m. if classes will be canceled. Check iMpact or tune to radio station WJR (AM 760), WWJ (FM 97.1 or AM 950).
Active Degree Candidacy
You will lose active degree candidacy if you do not complete at least one course during your first term in the Evening MBA program or if you do not complete at least one course within any 12-month period. If this occurs, you must apply for admission. For example:
- If you register but withdraw during the first term of enrollment, you must re-apply for admission.
- You complete a course in the fall term, but do not complete another class in the winter, spring or summer terms of the subsequent academic year, then you must complete a class in the following fall or your active status will have expired. You would then need to re-enroll into the program. This re-enrollment would require completing much of the application again. Academic Services will provide directions should this occur.
Note that while students have 10 years to complete the program, any prolonged absence could result in a decision that you need to completely re-apply rather than simply re-enroll. For this reason, students should try to maintain active candidacy.
