Title: Impact of disruption on supply chain network design.

Abstract:  Several insights have been drawn in the literature that focus on supply chain 
network design in the context of supply and demand uncertainty. We focus on how the possibility 
of disruption of a link or node in the supply chain affects these insights. In particular, 
we look at how a designer should build a supply chain network when disruption risk is hard 
to predict. We also consider whether it is better to “cover” for the possibility of disruption 
by building more flexibility or whether it may sometimes be better to “contain” the impact of 
a disruption by limiting flexibility.
