  Program Concludes for Class of 2012
 
ANN ARBOR, Michigan – Congratulations to the Ross Global MBA Class of 2012 on their August graduation. We offer congratulations to the entire class and further, would like to recognize five students whose academic achievement throughout the program earned the recognition of graduating with distinction. One Global MBA graduated with High Distinction and four with Distinction.

"High Distinction" is awarded to those completing the program with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and "Distinction" is awarded to those who have earned a grade point average between 3.25 and 3.499. Congratulations to the outstanding Global MBA graduates, shown below, who completed the program with honors.

  Class of 2013 Tours Detroit
 
DETROIT, Michigan - On Friday, September 21, 2012, the Global MBA Class of 2013 traveled to nearby Detroit for a tour of the city. For several of the students, this tour marked their first visit to the Motor City. The day began with a guided bus tour to introduce the downtown including several of the city’s historic areas, the riverfront, some of the revitalization efforts underway, and highlights of the entertainment district. In the afternoon, the group enjoyed a docent led tour of the Detroit Institute of Arts, known to locals as the DIA. The DIA is a wonderful art museum in the city that maintains one of the nation’s top collections. The tour included a discussion about the Detroit Industry murals, which highlight the significance of the automotive industry in Detroit history, by famed muralist Diego Rivera. One panel of the mural is shown below right. Several other works from acclaimed artists were also presented. The museum visit concluded with free time allowing students to browse the works individually.
 
  Applying Lessons Learned
 
MANILA, Philippines - Martin Reynoso of the Global MBA Class of 2011 and C.M. Pineda Realty, continues work on a Fall 2010 term assignment from one of his Strategy courses. In the course, Solving Societal Problems through Enterprise & Innovation, student teams were charged with finding ways to adopt innovative perspectives and devise innovative solutions. The team developed a marketing plan to distribute mosquito traps to aid in the fight against malaria and dengue that relied on the use of funds from donors.

The class ended and the donor financing didn’t materialize, but Martin (pictured far left) continued to pursue the idea. His persistence paid off when a local telecommunications company ordered 1,500 of the traps with their logo on the product. The telecommunications company intends to provide one trap with every purchase and in so doing, their advertisement will be viewed daily for months to come. It’s an added bonus that the traps are made from recycled materials and there’s a possibility of generating additional jobs in the production of the traps.

 
  2012 - The Year of Love
 
ASIA - In the summer of 2012, just a year after graduating from Ross, three members of the Class of 2011 married their sweethearts. Celebrations were held across Asia with ceremonies in Seoul, Bangkok, and Taipei. Congratulations to Jae Young Joo, of TES Co., Ltd., and his wife Hyeyeong who were married May 12 in Seoul. Blessings to Ukrit (Nove) Archapairoj, of Kasikornbank, and his wife Nana who joined in marriage on May 30th in Bangkok. And best wishes to Yi-Chao (Chuck) Hsieh and his wife Alice who tied the knot on July 28 in Taipei.
